Students can earn extra money online

Online surveys are a great way for students to earn some extra money.  Some survey companies that belong to ESOMAR (an organization that sets high standards for market research companies) allow members 13 years of age and older.  In instances where a young person is joining, parental permission may be required.   All of the survey companies listed on SavvySeekers belong to ESOMAR and are a great safe way for students to supplement their earnings from other sources.

Here are the top 5 things students should know about making extra money with surveys:
  1. Survey companies need young people to take their surveys.  Brands are looking for young people to give their opinions about products and services they use every day. Surveys give you the opportunity to have your opinions heard and make a difference to the things that are important to you.
  2. There are many legitimate survey companies that will value your opinion and your time and will reward you for it.  All of the companies on www.SavvySeekers.com are safe.
  3. You will most likely receive a lot of surveys and that will mean you can earn even more money. You can decide which surveys you want to take, but the more you take, the more you will earn.
  4. You can take surveys in your free time.  With internet access, you can use your cell phone to take a survey and earn some money while you are waiting a friend, for the bus, or for an appointment.  Most surveys don't take very long and most will allow you to stop and finish it later.
  5. Many survey companies have sweepstakes that will give you the chance to help pay off your student fees.  There are monthly, quarterly, and annual draws that range from $1,000 to $10,000.
All of the surveys on www.SavvySeekers.com are legitimate and will pay the rewards to you.  You can choose whether you want to receive cash or popular gift cards (Amazon, iTunes, etc).  Visit the link for your country below and start earning extra money today!

My husband earned $65 participating in a focus group

My husband just did his first focus group.  Here's how it went:

He signed up to participate in focus groups a few months ago and received his first call on Saturday.  He was asked whether he was interested in participating in a focus group on the upcoming Tuesday.  The focus group would last 1 hour and he would be compensated $50.  He said he was, so they asked him a few questions.  The questions were about his age, occupation, household income, what I do for a living and what his role is in grocery shopping.  He was also asked if he could be on a reality show, which would it be.  I think he may have said The Bachelor if I wasn't in the room :)  They asked what session he was available for and was told that the sessions during the day paid more - $65.  He choose a day session as he was available.  They called back an hour later to give him the address for the group.  On Monday he got a confirmation call.

He arrived at the office 20 minutes early and checked in with reception.  They asked him a few questions - if he is comfortable speaking in small or large groups.  Then he showed his ID.  At the start time, he was escorted into a large room. The group was pretty big, about 50 people.  That's a really big focus group.  Most I've been to were 8-10 people.

All participants were given handheld devices to record their answers and were shown two commercials for a product.  Then they were asked a number of questions about the commercials.

Afterwards, a few people were selected to stay longer to answer more questions.  They would be paid extra.  My husband wasn't selected.

He signed and received his payment - $65 for 50 minutes of his time.  Not bad.  He said he would be willing to do it again.

You may be selected to participate in focus groups if you have signed up to take surveys with the companies on SavvySeekers.  I have seen three focus group invitations in the past few months, but it will definitely depend on where you live.  On two of these occasions, the email looked like a regular survey.  You just never know what you will be offered when you click on a survey link.

Taking surveys - is it all about the money?

We've all heard results of polls reported on the news and most of us have received phone calls asking us to answer a survey.  You may have even seen a survey on your cash register receipt.  Should you take part in surveys?

There are many different types of surveys and they may be conducted on behalf of a wide variety of companies, governments, social service agencies, or your favourite loyalty program.  When you sign up for surveys on SavvySeekers you never know what you may be asked about.

Here are a few reasons why you should take part in surveys:

  • Surveys may be conducted on behalf of your government or social service agencies.  They may be doing a study to find out satisfaction level with local schools or hospitals or whether there is a need for a new social service agency in your community.
  • Many companies conduct customer satisfaction surveys.  Are you satisfied with the banking fees you pay?  Did you have trouble with an employee in a store?  This gives you an opportunity to help improve the service you receive from companies and stores you deal with.
  • Your favourite charity may conduct a survey to find out how they can boost donations by asking others what prompted them to donate.
  • Many politicians conduct surveys during elections to determine what topics are most important to voters.  This gives you the opportunity to see how your politician responds to the issues that are important to you.
  • Companies conduct product tests to improve products or test out a new product idea.  These product tests will give you the opportunity to include features that you would like to have.
  • Is your favourite rewards program missing some key benefits?  You may just get a chance to change that.
And, of course - there's also the rewards.   When you join a survey company and take surveys, your account will build up quickly.  If you join several of the survey companies on SavvySeekers you will maximize how much you earn. You may get lucky and win one of the sweepstakes for a larger amount, $1000, $2500 - there's even an annual sweepstake for $40,000!

The rewards are great, but there are many reasons to take surveys.  You can make changes that will benefit you.

Don't let other people speak for you - speak up and have your voice heard.  Visit SavvySeekers and start giving your opinion today!

How do I know which survey companies are legitimate survey companies?

That can be a tough one to spot.  There are many companies out there today that know that members of the public want to make a difference with their opinion.  They have been learning from the real survey companies and are saying all of the right things to make it appear that they are legitimate. Let's call these 'fake survey companies'.  They ask you if you want to participate in a 'survey'.  The 'survey' goes like this:  Would you like to earn your next degree online?  Yes/No.  If you choose YES they send you to a site where you can sign up to earn your degree online. You will need to pay if you want to earn your degree online. This is not a real survey, nor is it a real survey company.  Some of these fake survey companies are even willing to pay you for signing up for your degree.  Why is that?  Because they get paid for finding you and getting you to sign up.  That's why they make it look legitimate - to encourage you to sign up.

Legitimate survey companies will NEVER try to sell you anything.  You will never need to get out your credit card or send in a payment.  These fake survey companies have realized that people want to participate in online research and are capitalizing on this by creating 'surveys' that simply ask if you want to buy something.  Please be cautious about these fake survey companies.

There are many great, legitimate survey companies out there.  MySurvey, Toluna, Harris Poll, VIP Voice to name a few.  All of the surveys listed on SavvySeekers.com are legitimate online surveys.  They will never try to sell you anything.  In fact, they will send YOU great rewards.  Visit SavvySeekers.com today and sign up for legitimate online surveys and start earning great rewards!

Why do surveys ask personal questions?

How much money do you make?  How old are your children?  What is your main financial institution?  Yes, those are very personal questions.  But, legitimate surveys like those found on SavvySeekers.com have a very good reason to ask.

There are standard questions that legitimate survey companies will always ask you - gender, age, income and where you live (city, state, and country). These are pretty important questions for them to have.  Your responses to these questions are used for three reasons:

  1. This information is used to select members to participate in surveys. If a survey is looking for women 25-34, they will use this information to select women 25-34 to receive the survey invitation. This reduces the number of people who will try to take a survey, but won't be able to finish it because they are ineligible.
  2. Samples need to be representative of the population they are interested in. They need to ensure that their respondents match the population. So if 25% of the population is 18-34, they need to ensure that 25% of the respondents from their surveys are 18-34 as well.  If the respondent breakdown doesn't match the population, their results may not be accurate.
  3. Results from everyone who answered the survey will be combined. Responses from an individual will never be evaluated on their own. When responses are combined, the demographic information helps clients to describe the results further. For example, they may say that women (25%) are more likely to like a new product than are men (18%).
Although there may be surveys that ask about which bank you bank with, or what types of credit cards you have, you will never be asked for your account number, credit card number, etc. Legitimate companies, like those on SavvySeekers.com would never ask you for this information.

Rest assured, the questions you are asked by research companies will strictly be used for market research purposes.  You will never be asked to buy anything.

If you are interested in earning cash and other great rewards by responding to surveys, please visit SavvySeekers.com.  Sign up with the surveys that you are interested in and make sure you complete your registration by clicking the link in the confirmation email. You can easily unsubscribe any time you like. That's all there is to it.

How can you maximize your survey opportunities?

If you enjoy taking surveys or want to earn some extra cash taking surveys, you likely want to take all of the surveys that you can.  How can you increase your number of survey opportunities?  Survey routers help you increase your chances of qualifying for surveys. Have you seen a survey router?

A survey router is a program that checks for available surveys and offers any up to you.  A survey router may come up at the beginning of a survey.  If it does, it will ask you a few demographic questions to qualify you (usually age, gender and region) and will check to see if there are any available surveys looking for respondents with your demographics.  If so, it will ask if you would like to take the survey.

Sometimes after you take a short survey or are screened out of a survey, you will be asked if you'd like to take another survey.  If you have the time, it's a great way to build up your rewards more quickly.

Many legitimate market research companies have survey routers as part of their programs.  Ipsos and HarrisPoll are two examples of companies with survey routers.  Ipsos asks whether you would like to take another survey when you have been screened out of a survey.  Harris Poll starts with a survey router each time, which means it goes through all available surveys to find one you qualify for.  This gives you even more chances to build up your account quickly.

Taking a survey through a survey router is pretty straightforward.  You will be asked basic demographic questions (even if you just answered them to qualify for the earlier survey). This is a bit annoying, but it ensures that only qualified respondents are chosen.  When it finds a survey for you, you will be asked if you'd like to take the survey and it should tell you how long it will take and what your reward will be.  In some cases, the new survey may be from a partner.  When you click to take the survey, you may be re-directed to a new site.  But don't worry, the new partner will be credible just like the panel you joined.  If you have been re-directed, you should end back on the original site.  We suggest you keep track of the date, your reward, the partner site (if applicable) and any other details about the survey.  This will help you check that you have been given your reward.

You can join these great panels and others at SavvySeekers.com.  Join legitimate surveys and start earning extra cash today!

Just how easy is it to join survey panels?

When you are on SavvySeekers.com and you have selected the survey panel you would like to join, click on the JOIN NOW button.  You will be re-directed to the survey registration.  You will be asked to provide contact details and some basic demographics about you and your household.  The most important info is your email address.

After you have answered all of the questions, click the submit button.  All of the survey companies on SavvySeekers.com (and all legitimate survey companies) will send you a confirmation email.  This email is very important for a few reasons:

1.  it ensures that you really want to sign up, referred to as double opt-in.  You are agreeing to receive emails from the survey company;
2.  it ensures that the survey company has the correct email for you; and,
3.  it ensures that you are able to find emails from the survey company.  You should add the survey company email into your email contact list to ensure you receive their emails.

You must click the link in the email to confirm your membership and become a full-fledged member of the panel.  Legitimate survey companies will not email you if you don't click this link to give them permission.  They may actually email you once more, but must get this double opt-in to continue emailing you.

This email should arrive shortly after you complete the registration.  If you can't find it, look in your junk folder.  Sometimes invites end up there.  If it is in your junk folder, mark it as safe so that it will go to your inbox next time.  If you still can't find it, contact the survey company's help desk and they should be able to assist you.

How can you earn more with online surveys?

The best way to maximize your earnings with online surveys is to check your email every day and participate in as many surveys as you can.  Some surveys fill up quickly, so the sooner you take the survey the better.  You may also get the opportunity to participate in focus groups and special surveys that pay more than standard surveys.  You just never know what you will be offered when you click on a survey link.

If you receive a survey that is offering a draw for participating, we highly recommend you take them as well.  They may ask you questions to qualify you for future surveys AND you may win the draw.  These draws may have smaller numbers of entrants so your odds of winning are pretty good.

You can also earn bigger amounts if you join more than one survey panel.  The more you join, the more you are eligible to earn.

You can find a list of our favourite surveys on SavvySeekers.  Join now and start earning now!

How many surveys will you get once you join a survey company?

How many surveys you get after joining a survey company will depend on a few things.  First of all, if you join one of the bigger companies listed on SavvySeekers they will most likely be running many surveys at one time.  The companies we list are mainly global companies with many clients.  This means that they will have many surveys running at the same time.

The other thing that will determine how many surveys you will get is how the demographic profile of your household matches what they are looking for.  If they are doing many surveys for new moms and you happen to be a new mom, you will get more surveys.  Generally speaking, surveys need more moms, young people (under 35), men, and those with higher income levels - household income of approximately $75,000 or more. If you fall into these groups, then chances are you will get a lot of surveys.  And, of course, this means you will earn more rewards! So if you are a mom, or if you are young, or male or live in a household with a higher combined income, you can earn more rewards with online surveys.
